The Resolute Series is comprised of photographic diptychs on paper: a set of 3 photoetchings, 2016-2017, and a set of 3 inkjet prints, 2016. All left hand images in each diptych are sourced from archival images at the National Air Photo Library, taken by the RCAF for mapping the North from 1948 to 1959. All right hand images were taken over Cornwallis Island by Leslie Reid while flying with the Canadian Forces Artist Program in 2013. In the 3 photoetchings, the right hand images show in sequence: a small herd of muskoxen huddling due to the sound of the helicopter overhead; the shore of Resolute Bay on the Northwest Passage; the Inuit hamlet of Resolute, established by the High Arctic Relocation of 1953-55 (second location). The airport, weather station and Polar Continental Shelf Program facilities are a few kilometres away from the hamlet. The photoetchings were produced at Open Studio, Toronto, through the RCA/Open Studio Print Fellowship. The set of inkjet prints were produced by Roxanne Lafleur.
