Video (06:41), 2017 Uluriak records the words of Uluriak Amarualik, a fellow participant on Leg 9 of the Canada C3 Expedition through The Northwest Passage, 2017. Uluriak talks of her life in the High Arctic community of Resolute, site of the High Arctic Relocation of 1953-55. Uluriak’s grandparents had been forcibly relocated there, one family from the Hudson Bay community of Inukjuak, and the other family from the Inuit community of Pond Inlet, at the top of Baffin Island. She tells of joining the Canadian Rangers, military reservists in the North, as a way of thanking her grandparents for surviving, as well as her experiences as a young Inuk girl travelling to London, England. Uluriak is now studying Environmental Science at Nunavut Arctic College in Iqaluit.
