Calumet records in three sections, present day cottage life on Île du Grand Calumet, birthplace of my maternal grandmother, and inspiration for paintings on my return from England. The first section, The Farm, shows the farmhouse and land on the Ottawa River, acquired by my mother many years after her parents had moved South. The second section, The Rapids, moves to a neighbouring cottage for a meal shared with family and friends by the river. The third section, The Point, records the search and ultimate discovery of The Point, the camp site shared all summer long by my mother and our family, with grandparents, aunts and cousins living in tents while the fathers stayed in the city for work.
